Known in all over the world for its particular shall shape, located on the meeting point of the three hills where the city rises, Piazza del Campo is the heart of Siena, and even the place where is run the famous Palio, a medieval horse race where between the seventeen contrada (districts of the historical center). 

Piazza del Campo can be considered the parlor of the city, a meeting place for people of every age. It is always animated, in all the seasons, until late night.

From the gastronomic point of view, Piazza del Campo  offers many choices: you can drink a good glass of wine and taste the typical delicious Tuscan food, admiring the Torre del Mangia seated in one of the copious bar or restaurant that lean out on the splendid frame of the square.

Even the most important palaces smile to Piazza del Campo: Palazzo Pubblico, municipality headquarters and treasure chest of many art works, and the Cappella di Piazza (the Chapel of the square) located right below Torre del Mangia. Palazzo Chigi-Zondadari , Palazzo Sansedoni (one of the historic domicile of Monte dei Paschi di Siena and Beato Amborgio Sansedoni’s native home), Palazzo e Loggia della Mercanzia and the amazing Fonte Gaia complete the marvelous picture of the square.
