Spring 2016 in Siena is full of very interesting events! Great opening with “Mercato nel Campo”!

Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of April recurs the re-enactment of the historic " Mercato Grande " in Piazza del Campo which was held once a week in the thirteenth century Siena.

In this extraordinary weekend in Siena there are many activities offered by the rich program dedicated to taste and craftsmanship with workshops, cooking shows, kids activities and enjoyable paths to discover the plants, fruits and herbs. There will be also relaxing wine tastings in the lounge area under the Torre del Mangia, folk performances, literary journeys to discover the magical places of Siena and others surprises ...

A journey through the flavors of the Bel Paese along more than 150 stands, where you can find and taste the best of Italian and Tuscan food: meats, fresh pasta, oil cheese, honey, saffron, cavallucci, gingerbread, herbs,  season fruit and vegetables. There will be DOP and IGP products like Finocchiona, the Cinta Senese, Pecorino Toscano, the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Terre di Siena, the San Gimignano’s Saffron and Siena Ricciarelli IGP. The Mercato nel Campo is also home to some excellence of Made in Italy: vinegar of Modena and the tortellini with speck of Trentino; anchovies from the Valmaira cheeses of Lombardy, the Porchetta of Ariccia PGI, the original production of cheeses from Umbria, the cakes with chocolate and the Venetian jams.

The Palazzetto Rosso, boutique hotel in the city center of Siena, will be glad to guide the guest between the many events of spring 2016, in occasion of Mercato nel Campo, as, for example:

Vinarte: the taste parlor at Torre del Mangia. The taste will be protagonist in the Cortile del Podestà at Palazzo Pubblico, Piazza del Campo, where throughout the weekend the doors of Vinarte will be opened,  the taste parlor dedicated to the excellent wine of Terre di Siena and Bel Paese. For the occasion, you can choose from the best labels exposed in tasting points, getting a personal chalice. During the two days it will be possible to taste the best meats, accompanied by an excellent glass of wine while relaxing in their lounge area under the Torre del Mangia.

In the same weekend Siena will celebrate the Tuscan New Year! 2^nd of April from 09:30 pm, the rooms of Museo Civico will be permeated by the music of the  renaissance organ stored in Sala del Mappamondo. This unique execution ends with a delightful wine degustation organized by Enoteca Italiana at Cortile del Podestà.
